Great Plains Health, is a progressive health system located in North Platte, Nebraska, serving a 38-county region of Nebraska, northern Kansas and northern Colorado. Our primary and secondary service area spans approximately 67,800 square miles and 136,000 people. Great Plains Health is an independent, not for profit community-owned regional medical center, including a level III trauma center with a fully certified emergency room physician staff. Our system includes 19 hospital-based clinics, an urgent care, family medicine and pediatrics. Our providers perform outreach in 24 critical access hospitals in Nebraska and Kansas. Great Plains Health has approximately 1,225 employees and over 100 volunteers.
Great Plains Health has over 100 physicians on the medical staff representing more than 30 medical specialties. Great Plains Health is accredited by the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality and is home to a cancer center that is accredited as a Commission on Cancer center through the American College of Surgeons and an accredited QOPI Certified facility through the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, a level 2 bariatric surgery program, and a stroke center that has earned the Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus, the Target: Type 2 Honor Roll, and the GoldPlus Get With The Guidelines® Stroke quality achievement awards from American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The Leapfrog Group has named Great Plains Health a Top Rural Hospital and has awarded an “A” rating six times to GPHealth.
